In the past year Brody has started to slow down and has had difficulty getting up as quickly as he once could. Jeff Watson, Brody's owner/trainer, consulted with Brody's veterinarian – she recommended that Jeff start Brody on the joint health supplement Cosequin ASU from Nutramax Laboratories, Inc. Actually formulated for horses, Cosequin ASU contains the ingredient ASU (avocado/soybean unsaponifiables) along with optimal amounts of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate. ASU works along with glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate to support joint health. Brody has been on the product since March of 2010 and I have noticed a difference," Jeff explains. "He is getting up more easily and just seems to be more comfortable overall." Jeff is thrilled that Brody is doing better since they have a packed schedule with tour dates and appearances. Jeff and Brody travel the country educating people about bears and bear safety. Part of the presentation requires Brody to be very active – and now with the support of Cosequin ASU, it is easier to get the job done.
Since Brody is getting up in bear years (he's almost 16), Jeff has recently introduced a new member to the team. Brody Junior, or BJ, is a 120 lb grizzly who will soon be taking over Brody's position so Brody may enjoy retirement. In the meantime, Jeff and Brody will continue to share their experiences and knowledge with audiences.
