Study Shows the Novel Combination of Ingredients Found in Avmacol Immune™ Stimulates Immune System
EDGEWOOD, MD (August 15, 2016) – Nutramax Laboratories Consumer Care, Inc. announced today the results of a study published in the American Journal of Immunology that reports a novel glucan-sulforaphane combination, equivalent to the active ingredients found in Avmacol Immune™, has been found to stimulate the immune system better than glucans alone.
The authors of the study, Vetvicka and Vetvickova, correctly hypothesized that the combination of beta-glucans and sulforaphane would enhance the immune system when presented with a viral challenge. Results indicate that the glucan-sulforaphane combination significantly increased levels of the cytokines IFN-γ, IL-1 and TNF-α, as well as potentiated the formation of anti-virus antibodies.
One of the study's authors, Dr. Vaclav Vetvicka, Professor & Vice Chairman and Director of Research at the University of Louisville, outlines the study’s impressive outcomes, saying "The results of the recent study far surpassed our own expectations. We were anticipating general immune health support outcomes - induction of macrophage and natural killer cell activity - and were very pleased to observe not only a substantial decrease in viral load and increased antibodies directed against the virus but significant survival advantage in the group that received the glucan-sulforaphane combination as found in Avmacol Immune compared to the study control."
Avmacol Immune is a patent-pending, sulforaphane-producing supplement that works in combination with beta-glucans to support your body’s natural detoxification system and provide immune support. Sulforaphane supports the body’s defenses against oxidative stress and cell damage while beta-glucans have been shown to provide immune support by promoting neutrophil function and natural killer cell activity.
"We have strong in vitro evidence supporting the merits of Avmacol Immune in regards to inducing protective detoxifying and anti-oxidative enzymes as well as heat shock proteins," said Dr. Brian Cornblatt, Medical Director and Director of Consumer Care Product Support at Nutramax Laboratories Consumer Care, Inc. "This in vivo model widens the potential of this combination in promoting immune health."
