The American Kennel Club (AKC&reg;) is excited to announce that the AKC Diving Dogs Premier Cup Presented by Cosequin&reg; will air on ESPN2. The competition will premiere on Sunday, October 27th at 5pm ET.
 This year&rsquo;s AKC Diving Dogs Premier Cup, held in collaboration with North America Diving Dogs, took place on September 19, 2024, at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds in Aurora, CO. Canine athletes from around the country competed in both Distance and Air Retrieve divisions in three different classes &ndash; Lap, Elite and Premier &ndash; based on their size and season average. Combined scores in Distance and Air Retrieve determined the winners in each class, with the top three in each receiving prize money. The field of competitors includes past national champions, AKC Diving Dog Challenge winners, and world record holders.
 &ldquo;We&rsquo;re thrilled to bring the AKC Diving Dogs Premier Cup back to ESPN,&rdquo; said Gina DiNardo, AKC Executive Secretary. &ldquo;Diving Dogs is such a fun sport, and the excitement from the dogs competing is infectious! Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by MARS Equestrian&trade;
The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event is a thrilling multi-day competition featuring Olympic-level riders and horses in what can best be described as an equestrian triathlon. Cosequin® Named Title Sponsor of Lexington CCI4* at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by MARS Equestrian™

Lancaster, South Carolina [December 14, 2022] &ndash; Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences is pleased to announce the results of a newly published clinical study by Chang et al., in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine. The study indicates that Cobalequin&reg;, an oral cobalamin supplement with the metabolically active folate (5-MTHF), may be as beneficial as parenteral cobalamin in dogs with hypocobalaminemia. These results significantly add to the growing body of knowledge regarding the use of cobalamin.
Cobalamin (vitamin B12) is an essential nutrient for maintaining cell functions in dogs. Hypocobalaminemia, sometimes called cobalamin deficiency, is frequently associated with chronic enteropathy (CE) or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). This study compared 46 dogs of multiple breeds with hypocobalaminemia associated with CE or EPI who received either Cobalequin&reg; orally or cobalamin parenterally. Dogs with either CE or EPI were randomly selected for both groups. None of the dogs participating in this study had previously received any form of cobalamin.
The researchers found that Cobalequin&reg; supported hypocobalaminemia management in dogs with CE or EPI. Results also showed significant improvement in methylmalonic acid (MMA) concentrations, a marker of vitamin B12 deficiency, only in dogs with EPI that were given the Cobalequin&reg; supplementation. Panzquin&reg;, also a cobalamin source, provides pancreatic enzymes to aid digestion in dogs.
"Results from this clinical study provide dog owners with options for care," said Nicolette Harris, DVM, Professional Services Veterinarian. "Oral cobalamin supplementation can benefit dogs while being convenient for owners. In addition, this study provides a better understanding of the benefits of cobalamin supplementation."

Nutramax Laboratories 30th Anniversary

&nbsp;Nutramax Laboratories Consumer Care, Inc. is pleased to share the results of a study published by Fahey, et al. in the journal Nutrients describing the bioavailability (absorption and excretion) and pharmacodynamics (the molecular effects) of Avmacol&reg;, a nutraceutical that supports sulforaphane production.
Sulforaphane is a phytochemical that turns on genes that have powerful health benefits. Sulforaphane is made when its precursor glucoraphanin is converted by the enzyme myrosinase. Both precursor and enzyme are present in broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables and are provided in Avmacol. In the laboratory, sulforaphane conversion has been shown to be impacted by pH. At a low pH ("acidic pH"), an inactive form called sulforaphane nitrile is made suggesting an acidic stomach would decrease the amount of sulforaphane available to be used by the body.
Researchers at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine examined whether gastric acidity effected the bioavailability of sulforaphane when Avmacol was taken in the presence or absence of a medicine called a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). A PPI reduces acid production and is one of the more frequently prescribed medicines in the U.S.
In a clinical trial, 16 participants took Avmacol with or without a PPI. Dr. Jed Fahey and his research team examined the levels of SFN excreted in the urine over a 24-hour period and determined that Avmacol supported robust sulforaphane bioavailability. Additionally, researchers showed that taking Avmacol resulted in an increase in the expression of genes that help protect cells against oxidative stress.
Avmacol was developed by the dedicated scientists at Nutramax Laboratories Consumer Care, Inc., including a leading sulforaphane researcher, Dr. Brian Cornblatt, who has worked with this unique phytochemical in the lab and in clinical studies for over a decade. Dr. Cornblatt remarked, &ldquo;We developed an Avmacol tablet to help maintain the integrity of glucoraphanin and active myrosinase enzyme. Most other products on the market are in a capsule. Capsules have inherent water content making the glucoraphanin precursor and myrosinase enzyme more vulnerable to degradation. This study allowed us to assess several important things at once: bioavailability of a tablet containing both glucoraphanin and active myrosinase enzyme when administered with a PPI, and pharmacodynamic changes after a single dose.&rdquo;
Dr. Grace Cornblatt, Director of Nutramax Laboratories&rsquo; Translational Research Laboratory, whose team studies the molecular mechanisms of action of company products, noted, &ldquo;This is the first published study assessing bioavailability that provides direct evidence that ingredients in Avmacol can be converted to sulforaphane in the human body. Cosamin®DS Again Shown to be Effective in an International Multi-Center Study

&nbsp;Nutramax Laboratories hosted business and community leaders, as well as local elected officials, on Thursday, March 28, 2019, to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for its latest expansion announcement. This was the second expansion to date in Lancaster, South Carolina for Nutramax Laboratories since the company moved its animal health manufacturing and corporate headquarters from Maryland in 2010. During the ceremony, speakers included company leadership, local leaders, and South Carolina Governor, Henry McMaster.

(&ldquo;Nutramax&rdquo;) is pleased to announce the results of a recently published in vitro study* that supports the role of avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU), glucosamine, and chondroitin sulfate in the maintenance of cartilage during antibiotic use. These results build on earlier research demonstrating that the combination inhibits mediators involved in cartilage breakdown, and by doing so helps to promote joint health and comfort.
The study showed that amikacin and enrofloxacin at levels consistent with intra-articular administration and intravenous regional limb perfusion caused a dose-dependent cytotoxicity in equine chondrocytes. The cytotoxicity of enrofloxacin may be attributed to its ability to induce the production of Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), as shown in this study. PGE2 is recognized for its ability to inhibit the synthesis of cartilage components as well as stimulate production of degradative enzymes and mediators in the inflammatory process contributing to cartilage breakdown and joint discomfort. The combination of NMX1000&reg;&nbsp;ASU, TRH122&reg;&nbsp;Chondroitin Sulfate, and FCHG49&reg;&nbsp;Glucosamine was able to significantly reduce the production of PGE2 stimulated by enrofloxacin.
The researchers concluded that the combination of ASU, glucosamine, and chondroitin sulfate could serve as a potential agent in opposing the adverse effects of some antibiotic medications in chondrocytes.

New study shows ASU, glucosamine, and chondroitin sulfate could minimize the drawbacks of antibiotics on joint health
