Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by MARS Equestrian&trade;
The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event is a thrilling multi-day competition featuring Olympic-level riders and horses in what can best be described as an equestrian triathlon. The $225,000 Kentucky CSI3* Invitational Grand Prix presented by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute will take place on Saturday afternoon, April 29, after the cross-country portion of the LRK3DE. Nutramax Laboratories expanding operations in Lancaster County

Lancaster, SC (October 13, 2022) &ndash; More than 700 guests, including employees, community members, elected officials and SC Governor Henry McMaster, celebrated the grand opening of Nutramax Laboratories&rsquo; 200,000 square foot expansion. The project, announced in 2018, nearly triples the size of the corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility on Quality Drive, in the Lancaster Business Park. Thursday&rsquo;s celebration was the culmination of a three-year construction project that broke ground in March of 2019. Lancaster, South Carolina [December 14, 2022] &ndash; Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences is pleased to announce the results of a newly published clinical study by Chang et al., in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine. The study indicates that Cobalequin&reg;, an oral cobalamin supplement with the metabolically active folate (5-MTHF), may be as beneficial as parenteral cobalamin in dogs with hypocobalaminemia. These results significantly add to the growing body of knowledge regarding the use of cobalamin.
Cobalamin (vitamin B12) is an essential nutrient for maintaining cell functions in dogs. Hypocobalaminemia, sometimes called cobalamin deficiency, is frequently associated with chronic enteropathy (CE) or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). This study compared 46 dogs of multiple breeds with hypocobalaminemia associated with CE or EPI who received either Cobalequin&reg; orally or cobalamin parenterally. Dogs with either CE or EPI were randomly selected for both groups. None of the dogs participating in this study had previously received any form of cobalamin.
The researchers found that Cobalequin&reg; supported hypocobalaminemia management in dogs with CE or EPI. Results also showed significant improvement in methylmalonic acid (MMA) concentrations, a marker of vitamin B12 deficiency, only in dogs with EPI that were given the Cobalequin&reg; supplementation. Panzquin&reg;, also a cobalamin source, provides pancreatic enzymes to aid digestion in dogs.
"Results from this clinical study provide dog owners with options for care," said Nicolette Harris, DVM, Professional Services Veterinarian. Nutramax Laboratories Exceeds Industry Standards for Quality

&nbsp;Nutramax Laboratories Consumer Care, Inc. is pleased to share the results of a study published by Fahey, et al. in the journal Nutrients describing the bioavailability (absorption and excretion) and pharmacodynamics (the molecular effects) of Avmacol&reg;, a nutraceutical that supports sulforaphane production.
Sulforaphane is a phytochemical that turns on genes that have powerful health benefits. Sulforaphane is made when its precursor glucoraphanin is converted by the enzyme myrosinase. Both precursor and enzyme are present in broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables and are provided in Avmacol. In the laboratory, sulforaphane conversion has been shown to be impacted by pH. At a low pH ("acidic pH"), an inactive form called sulforaphane nitrile is made suggesting an acidic stomach would decrease the amount of sulforaphane available to be used by the body.
Researchers at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine examined whether gastric acidity effected the bioavailability of sulforaphane when Avmacol was taken in the presence or absence of a medicine called a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). A PPI reduces acid production and is one of the more frequently prescribed medicines in the U.S.
In a clinical trial, 16 participants took Avmacol with or without a PPI. Dr. Jed Fahey and his research team examined the levels of SFN excreted in the urine over a 24-hour period and determined that Avmacol supported robust sulforaphane bioavailability. Additionally, researchers showed that taking Avmacol resulted in an increase in the expression of genes that help protect cells against oxidative stress.
Avmacol was developed by the dedicated scientists at Nutramax Laboratories Consumer Care, Inc., including a leading sulforaphane researcher, Dr. Brian Cornblatt, who has worked with this unique phytochemical in the lab and in clinical studies for over a decade. Cosamin®DS Again Shown to be Effective in an International Multi-Center Study

&nbsp;Nutramax Laboratories hosted business and community leaders, as well as local elected officials, on Thursday, March 28, 2019, to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for its latest expansion announcement. This was the second expansion to date in Lancaster, South Carolina for Nutramax Laboratories since the company moved its animal health manufacturing and corporate headquarters from Maryland in 2010. During the ceremony, speakers included company leadership, local leaders, and South Carolina Governor, Henry McMaster.
&ldquo;Thank you to Lancaster for being such a wonderful and welcoming community.&rdquo; Robert Henderson, P.D., N.D., Nutramax Laboratories founder and board chairman, opened the celebration. &ldquo;We were looking at several locations, and the Lord led us to Lancaster, South Carolina.&rdquo;
This expansion project includes a $20 million-dollar investment and an additional 225 job opportunities in Lancaster, SC with the Nutramax companies. Nutramax Laboratories will add an additional 100,000 square feet to one of its existing facilities in Lancaster to increase its manufacturing capacity, which will more than double the size of the building footprint. The company owns and operates two other facilities in Lancaster, South Carolina.
Ralph Norman, Congressman for South Carolina&rsquo;s fifth congressional district, shared the following video message, &ldquo;I am very impressed by the work you all have done. Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences, Inc. (&ldquo;Nutramax&rdquo;) is pleased to announce the results of a recently published in vitro study* that supports the role of avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU), glucosamine, and chondroitin sulfate in the maintenance of cartilage during antibiotic use. These results build on earlier research demonstrating that the combination inhibits mediators involved in cartilage breakdown, and by doing so helps to promote joint health and comfort.
The study showed that amikacin and enrofloxacin at levels consistent with intra-articular administration and intravenous regional limb perfusion caused a dose-dependent cytotoxicity in equine chondrocytes. The cytotoxicity of enrofloxacin may be attributed to its ability to induce the production of Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), as shown in this study. PGE2 is recognized for its ability to inhibit the synthesis of cartilage components as well as stimulate production of degradative enzymes and mediators in the inflammatory process contributing to cartilage breakdown and joint discomfort. The combination of NMX1000&reg;&nbsp;ASU, TRH122&reg;&nbsp;Chondroitin Sulfate, and FCHG49&reg;&nbsp;Glucosamine was able to significantly reduce the production of PGE2 stimulated by enrofloxacin.
The researchers concluded that the combination of ASU, glucosamine, and chondroitin sulfate could serve as a potential agent in opposing the adverse effects of some antibiotic medications in chondrocytes.

Realizing there were other unique needs to be met throughout the community, the 4:10 Initiative continues to grow to include a variety of assistance for other types of small businesses and community organizations.
"This began when I stopped by 521 BBQ for lunch, just as the dining room shutdowns had been announced," recalls Dr. Robert Henderson, founder of Nutramax Laboratories. "The owner was distraught; they would have to close in the next week if things didn't change. I knew then that the orders and regulations issued were going to have a heavy impact on all small businesses. We had to do something."

Renewed Hope For Local, Small Businesses

Nutramax Laboratories&reg; announced today the publication of results from an international clinical study that demonstrates the effectiveness of glucosamine hydrochloride and chondroitin sulfate &ndash; the same active ingredients found in the joint health dietary supplement Cosamin&reg;DS -- in the management of joint health and wellness. The results of the MOVES (Multicentre Osteoarthritis InterVEntion trial with Sysadoa) study are published in the online edition of the peer-reviewed journal, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.
MOVES is a multicenter, randomized, parallel-group, double-blind, controlled clinical trial that enrolled 606 patients at 42 centers in France, Germany, Poland and Spain.
